There's no better medicine than laughter, and no better material than the insanity of parenting. While I'm more a spectator than a parent these days, I do get a few bellyaching laughs each day watching Liza and the boys. I read about the comedian Anita "William Tell Mom" Renfro today and she sums it up nicely, "each day you have a choice - hilarity or insanity".
May you all enjoy some funny times today!

I'm working on understanding and appreciating the insanity and hilarity of adolescence! We kept a journal in our kitchen during the kids' younger days to record the hillarity of it all. I think I need to dust it off and sharpen my pencil!
Love you -- Sal
Dave, thanks for this timely reminder. As Ellie becomes unexpectedly difficult (read behavioral issues at home and school- my precious, sweet girl is a bully!- not to mention her waterworks/ dropping to the floor at every turn), I have found my typical approach of finding the humor to be a bit more challenging. Maybe it's this late stage of pregnancy. BUT, if you can do it, I can do it. Dammit, I'm going to laugh!! I do take issue though with Renfro's quote. I don't see it as an either/ or choice. I find my days to be quite the hybrid of hilarity AND insanity. But I appreciated it all the same. Thinking of you!! Dana
I've had my fair share of insanity but I did have one great bit of hilarity this week that I thought I'd share. Hope it gives you a laugh. I said to Madeline a couple days ago, "Honey, what do you want for breakfast today? Pancakes, cereal or eggs?" Madeline says, "Pancakes. And you mommy? Do you want coffee, wine or beer?" Out of the mouths of babes....
Hi David,
Ann Benson Reidy here. I have been reading your journal in awe over the past few months. When I write in my daughter's (Diana) journal I always read yours too. Diana has Leukemia. She just turned 3 and has 2 more years of treatment. We have just reached the maintnence stage and couldn't be happier with her prognosis, yet life is still fragile for her. These little guys are fighters for sure.
Please know that our family, Jack
(10), Kate(9), Diana(3), Laura(10mth) and Kevin and I continue to pray for you, Liza and especially those little guys giving you a run for your money right now! If you have any interest in our sweet fighter you can check her out at www.caringbridge.org/visit/dianareidy
Our Love from Colorado,
Ann
