NYC

We head to NYC today for an appointment at Sloan Kettering. Georgetown is recommending a chemo clinical trial, Hopkins is recommending chemo and then a bone marrow transplant ("BMT"), and we're expecting Sloan's recommendation to be similar to Hopkins'. If that turns out to be the case, then I'll start chemo at Hopkins, as an in-patient, as early as Monday or Tuesday. This is good news b/c the cancer is clearly growing as evidenced by the ever expanding abdominal pain, and the chemo will shrink the tumors and relieve the pain. The chemo is every three weeks, for three days in a row, for about three months, and then I have the BMT. The BMT will keep me in the hospital for anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks. The good news is that this therapy makes my previous chemo seem like a little aspirin, and the cancer won't stand a chance against the BMT.

Thank you for all of your well wishes. I love you all. I love my incredible wife a lot. If you saw her in action you wouldn't believe it. She just pushes everything forward, with grace and a smile, with a great ability to keep the ship moving in the right direction while providing the little amenities (and normalcy) along the way. I love you, babe.

I agree with David....Liza is pretty UN-FREAKIN BELIEVABLE! The amount of weight shes carrying is unimaginable. When you see her in action you wonder how she gathers such strength and courage to keep things in line. MAJOR props to her!!
We're all thinking about you guys constantly and know you will get through this. Just keep plowing on!

David, your choir is still singing, 24/7...and praising your determination and strength. Just remember that you have friends and family out here who send love to you. Yes, Liza is a unique woman. How lucky we all are!
Hugs to our beautiful niece and the boys.

My class this morning did intense back-to-back sprints today in honor you. (I wanted them - and myself - to understand the meaning of perseverance - lots of little races!) There were 17 people sending you good vibes this morning, right around the time you posted. I hope you felt it. Although there is a new leg to the race, it doesn't mean we still can't WIN.

Love you guys so much. And, Liza, I am the biggest wimp next to you. You are a courageous, brave light!

Thinking of you so much, especially today. GOOD THOUGHTS!

David,
I am a friend of your Mom's and have been praying for you since the night you called her while we were in New York together. Your blog has brought tears of sorrow and joy to me and I don't even know you, but love you.

The words of the prohpet Jeremiah came to me "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart I will be found."

May this next chapter of your life bring life.
Peace and blessings
