Good Signs

I'm pretty sure the past two days have marked the begining of the end of my stay here at MSKCC. My nausea has abated significantly, the doctors have taken away a couple of my daily meds, and switched two other meds from IV to pill form. I am eating, not much (half cup of cheerios), but a little more each day, and I feel much better. Barring unforseen changes, I expect to move out by the end of the month.

Writing about discharge makes me nervous, but it also puts a little extra pressure on me to power through this phase successfully, and a little pressure is good.

As always, thank you for your thoughtful and constant encouragement. You keep my spirit high and strong.

Very well said about discharge fear..it's probably pretty normal for in-patients. There's something very safe about being in the system. I sure felt fear about leaving because you worry about what if's that are otherwise immediately addressed with a nurse/doc down the hall. Fact is, they wouldn't send you home if you weren't ready. You'll be so glad to get home, you'll forget (like I did) that you were even worried about it.

Sure glad to hear some favorable news. Brian

Discharge, baby, love it!!

I remember the day they told me the twins were ready to leave the NICU. I panicked - I had the hospital rhythm down ... and now I had to have monitors in my house and take a CPR class and it was up to me? Gulp. How was I supposed to take care of two 4lb and 5 lb little lumps of life myself? It was a terrifying feeling and I convinced the docs to let them stay ONE MORE DAY, but they kept telling me they wouldn't send 'em home unless they were ready.

This is a big step, but the time has come, and it's wonderful! This was the reason for it all! Going in there to essentially walk right on out. There could not be better news. Keep "getting stronger" (what a great theme for your blog), and get ready to walk out into the beautiful sunshine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
