Selective Memory
My short term memory is failing a bit. I have trouble remembering some things from the past couple months, and what I do remember my mind sugar coats. This weekend is a great example.
After a strong Friday I had super high hopes for the weekend. I physically crashed on Saturday and Sunday and was incredibly disappointed. I should never have been disappointed. I know my condition changes with no rhyme or reason. I know to expect the pain to come back. Nonetheless, after Friday I just assumed smooth sailing until the next chemo. My expectation was pretty quickly rebuked and then the disappointment set in. Silly. I need to live day to day or hour to hour, and enjoy the good hours and deal with the tough ones. Today I got back on track. I respected the symptoms and took care of myself all day around the house and then around 5:00pm I felt good enough for an adventure. I went back to the Potomac, this time with my friend Alex. It was great. We stayed on the river for a good hour but could have stayed longer. We walked fast, fished from multiple spots about 10 minutes upstream from Fletchers, saw a great blue heron, didn't catch any fish, casted into the setting sun, and I was never winded. It was beautiful.
