The objective of this blog is to keep my friends and family up to date on my delymphomanization.
I was diagnosed with "Stage III Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma NOS" in August 2007, at 34 years old, with an amazing wife, two kids, loving dog, and generally feeling (as I continue to so feel), as blessed as anyone on this earth.
Stage III means the cancer is in more than one place (my abdomen and clavical), but not in my bone marrow. T-Cell Lymphoma is standard cancer of the lymph node system. N.O.S. means "not otherwise specified", or not one of the standard forms of T-Cell cancer, but somewhat understood nonetheless.
I am going through CHOP chemotherapy until late November. If all goes well, then the cancer will be killed and I'll be back to normal. If there are unexpected hurdles along the way, then I'm in excellent hands with world-wide Lymphoma experts at Georgetown, Hopkins, and Sloan Kettering.

The highlight of my day is seeing a posting. Whether good or bad it is always a testimonial to your strength and the support of your family. Brian, Cheryl and Kelly of Denver.
I also check davegettingstronger multiple times a day and am always so inspired and amazed by whatever you write. Though I don't know you guys as well personally, you are often in my thoughts. I feel the incredibly power of your strength and hope to add to it with whatever support I can give.

We are both so glad to hear you are back at the apartment with Dad. Bless you and your Dad (& of course, the rest of your wonderful family)and we just wanted you to know how much we admire your strength and determination and know that you are always in our prayers. Much love, Sharon
Hi David,
We love you too. It's nice to have a message from you; you are in our thoughts every day. Keep on working - it's all gonna pay off soon.
Random thought to make you smile: Did I/we ever tell you that Liza and I stole bagels from the sorority house kitchen? Whole big bags of 'em. (bought from the deli mind you, NOT Lenders) We had a helluva time trying to stuff those big bags into our microfridge but we were determined to avoid the ridiculous Sunday brunches. We hunkered down in our room, ate a good bagel and pretended we weren't "home." Sneaky. Yet so smart.
Smile. We love you.
So glad to see your posting--we too are frequent blog-checkers and always wondering how you are doing and wishing you good days!
love,
Phyllis and Steve

Dave- You know I'm not a religious guy, but I wanted you to know that I did ask my Mom to add you to her church's prayer list in Virginia. The members are all given a brief synopsis of your name, where you are and the basics of your situation. It means you will have an extra several hundred people actively praying for you every week. Mimi and I are thinking about you a lot and are also checking your blog... keep inspiring us all! We need it!

Hey David-
My triathlon was yesterday morning and when I tell you that you were SO incredibly there with me, I am not overstating. It was as if you were right there with me on my bike telling me that I COULD make it up those next hills and on my run, that I could keep going even when my legs felt like they would barely carry me anymore and that I didnt have to walk the uphill parts b/c I could keep going full steam ahead for just a little while longer to the finish line! What an incredible experience, and you were so much a part of it whether you knew it or not. Thank you so much for your help in getting me to that finish line!!
Our Team raised over $96,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma. What an incredible organization Team in Training is. I will continue to support them and encourage others to join me along the way.
Keep doing what your doing. You've already made it over so many hills- your finish line is definitely on the horizon!!
With love & admiration,
Alisa Berg

Dave,
You are not alone because your fight is a fight shared by all of us and while you are on the front lines right now, taking the big hits, we are all right here behind you, some running interference, some offering prayers, others facing down great challenges of their own. This unity, this support and togetherness, is life at its most beautiful. Be strong and get stronger.
Love to you and your family.

Hang in there, friend. Thinking of you and your beautiful family.

Sending you and your family so much love from Oklahoma. I'm wondering whether you felt good enough to watch Obama's speech. I'm certainly not giving you an assignment, but I do look forward to talking about it with you in person. William, Uncle Doodles and I were just talking about you tonight, and missing you!!! LOVE,
Dana
