Friends and the Future
I had another relatively pain free day. I am blessed that when these days or hours arrive I have great friends and family around to make the most of my time. We were at Liza's folks' house in the morning; I was with a college roommate through mid-day; and then in the late afternoon my dad and Marsha-mellow arrived with Eli (he spent last night with them). I was reading great emails and jokes from friends throughout the day and I feel like I'm riding on a wave of support and smiles. It feels good. Then just as the day was winding down some great friends delivered dinner. We really are blessed and love you all.
Regarding the future, I went to the Mall this afternoon and saw thousands of people waiting hours in lines to view self-sustaining solar-powered houses designed and manufactured by college kids and entered into the Solar Decathalon - an event for universities that fosters remarkable innovation and creativity. Undergrads from all over the world, but mostly the U.S., cranking out work like major corporations with massive R&D budgets. It gave me great hope for the future of our country and kids.
