Bone Marrow Update

My sisters' blood does not match mine so there will be no bone marrow transplant, if any, until after the six chemo sessions, and then only if the chemo does not work as designed. Our friend Mel was here for the news and she framed the news best, as a blessing in disguise. If there had been a match then we would have seriously considered a transplant and probably soon. Now we can see how the chemo does and possibly bypass a transplant, which is a major procedure.

Today is the sixth day since chemo and relatively speaking I'm doing great. The symptoms are familiar, which makes them a little easier to accept, including stomach, nausea, fatigue, bones, teeth, numbing, etc. I fully expect to have strength for home and office work by the end of the week. I can't wait. Also, I take back yesterday's post. I may have felt like a child, but as I listen to Eli scream right now (for no reason), I am definitely not in his league. Thankfully.

David, When I learned today that my blood is not a match for you I was devastated. I am so impressed with your ability to see the silver lining. I am going to embrace Mel's theory as well. Your strength is unbelievable and your courage continues to inspire me. How else would I have been able to bike 50 miles? Love, Elizabeth

You may remember that my Mom had a bone marrow transplant last year. She did well, but yes, I'm glad that you won't go through it unnecessarily. And the added silver lining is that you have it in your arsenal if necessary. But I don't think it will be!! I agree with Elizabeth, you continue to inspire! Dana

I can't believe that I am reading your post and that you managed to make me laugh! That line about Eli was hilarious. Dave, you are incredible. And believe you me, if you were ever to need a transplant, with that long list of people on your blog who love you, there's no question that you'd find a match. Going to sleep with your positive energy....hoping to return some your way.

David, I second Beth's comments. While you won't need the transplant, I'm confident that there will be one among us who can fit the bill if the need arises. Thank you for being so selfless...the way you are able and willing to share your thoughts, your pain, your joys on a daily basis is so humbling. You da man. Leigh McKenna
