Working!

I'm happy to report that although I was up for most of the night, the shower invigorated me, along with a hearty risotto and blueberries breakfast, and for about an hour I logged onto my work desktop and actually added (just a little) value to the company today. It feels good.

A friend sent me some Aloe Vera to rub on my bald head. I highly recommend it; soothing, a little tingly, soft, and cool.

I think I've been smiling and laughing more lately and it is b/c there are many silver linings in me tackling the disease. For one, I get to spend a lot more time with Liza, and she is a hoot (laughing and making light of anything) and makes life around her easy and comfortable. I spend more time with Reed, either playing (thankfully his maximum speed is zero), or watching him with Liza. I get to email, speak, and visit with you all; friends and family with whom I don't normally communicate on such an active basis. Your lives, help, support and prayers overwhelm me every day, many times a day. This love is like a light (Quaker education) that is always warm and present. There are also many little things like not having to wash my hair and reading a trashy novel that are a pleasure. Finally, I think the best little silver lining is shaving a thin beard that barely grows as opposed to hacking at the thick brush I was accustomed to shaving.

So as one of my favorite people likes to say when signing off on emails, "Plow On"!

Dear David,

Forgive me if I just left two comments without realizing it. I just wanted to send a quick note to express my support of you during this trying time. I got to see your handsome and altogether wonderful family photos on the blog after being included in a Friends alum. email. I graduated with you in '91 and can recall you leaning back in your chair during Mr. Drew's chemistry class junior year (?) to share with me supportive and calming words as I sat freaking out over balancing a formula or solving something tricky. I wish that I could lean in toward you know and utter something that sounds good and helpful and right just as your words once sounded to me.

Take good care!

Love,
Karianna Johnson Brace

Dave,

I can hear your positive spirit through your post today. Made me smile.

I'd like to blogroll your blog on mine but wanted to seek your permission first. You might want to keep it more private, so it's your call.

Let me know what you think when you feel up to it.

You are an incredible writer- I really appreciated being able to share your thoughts and responses. Your family sounds wonderful- Liza must be quite a jewel, but so are you. Please know that I'm thinking of you, that I certainly understand a lot of your thinking and that I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Stay positive and strong, give those babies kisses and hugs and tell Liza I think she's fabulous. Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy New Year! Marci sends her love!
P.S. I always thought you were the cutest guy at the beach, with the greatest personality.
