The objective of this blog is to keep my friends and family up to date on my delymphomanization.
We went from temple to the hospital for me to give blood, then Liza and I went for a piece of Pizza! Very romantic. Happy New Year!
I was diagnosed with "Stage III Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma NOS" in August 2007, at 34 years old, with an amazing wife, two kids, loving dog, and generally feeling (as I continue to so feel), as blessed as anyone on this earth.
Stage III means the cancer is in more than one place (my abdomen and clavical), but not in my bone marrow. T-Cell Lymphoma is standard cancer of the lymph node system. N.O.S. means "not otherwise specified", or not one of the standard forms of T-Cell cancer, but somewhat understood nonetheless.
I am going through CHOP chemotherapy until late November. If all goes well, then the cancer will be killed and I'll be back to normal. If there are unexpected hurdles along the way, then I'm in excellent hands with world-wide Lymphoma experts at Georgetown, Hopkins, and Sloan Kettering.

Hi David,
I stopped by on my morning walk today to say hi and drop off a book, and was happy to hear you were out and about. I'm really close by and at Turtle Park often so if you ever want some company, or want to take a little walk together, just shout. The prayers everyone is sending WILL work. I'm a firm believer. Happy New Year.

Hi David,
This one moved me to tears. Happy New Year to you, too.
Love to the four of you.
Mom
Please add two black churches to your mixed choir. Will get the names and send them to you. One is from Lorna who cleans for me, the other from Daisy.
Happy New Year, David, Liza and the boys - Warm wishes from Cape Cod - Willie, Sandy, Mia, Dexy and Eddie Rubenstein
And, how about a joke?
A U.S. Navy cruiser was anchored in Mississippi for a week's shore leave.
The first evening, the ship's Captain received the following note from the wife of a wealthy plantation owner:
"Dear Captain: Thursday will be my daughter Melinda's Debutante Ball. I would like you to send four well mannered, handsome, unmarried officers in their formal dress uniforms to attend the dance. They should arrive promptly at 8:00 PM prepared for an evening of polite Southern conversation. They should be excellent dancers, as they will be the escorts of lovely refined young ladies. One last point: No Jews please."
8:00 PM on Thursday, Melinda's mother heard a polite rap at the door which she opened to find, in full dress uniform, four smiling black officers. Her mouth fell open, but pulling herself together, she stammered, "There must be some mistake."
"No, Madam," said the first officer. "Captain Goldberg never makes a mistake" !!
Hi, David,
Just to let you know that our small congregation in upstate NY joined in praying for your good health this morning, as they've been doing all along. Add to this a wonderful congregation in El Paso, whose rabbi knows about you via a friend of ours in Ruidoso, NM. Strong vibes waft across the country!
For a year of good health. Kiss that outstanding niece of ours...and the boys.
Love to all.
Shelley and Shel
Happy New Year -- I was thinking of you yesterday.
